According to an article in the Daily Telegraph, it was reported externally that Farrell, who is currently on a sabbatical from his position as Ireland's head coach while preparing for the Lions tour, intends to add Easterby to his coaching staff.
Easterby has been anticipated to take charge of Ireland's summer tour to Georgia and Portugal.
When reached for comments about the report on Monday morning, a spokesperson for the IRFU stated, "At this moment, we have no remarks to provide."
Farrell is likely to announce the members of his Lions coaching team later this month.
Prior to the speculation regarding the Lions, Easterby expressed that he felt "committed" to Ireland and was "pretty happy where I am," following rumors about potentially replacing Warren Gatland as the coach of Wales that surfaced earlier in the championship.
