The 40-year-old attacker is set to see his contract expire at the end of this month. Although sources have indicated to Sport their optimism about renewing his contract, his future remains a topic of speculation.

Last week, the former striker for Real Madrid, Juventus, and Manchester United shared a vague message on social media, implying that he might be departing from the club he joined in January 2023.

However, after Portugal's thrilling Nations League win against Spain on Sunday, he implied that he would be staying put.

"Future? Nothing will change. Al Nassr? Yes," the forward stated to reporters following the match, during which he achieved a record-extending 138th international goal to equalize at 2-2.

The five-time Ballon d'Or recipient was substituted in the 88th minute and did not participate in the ensuing penalty shootout.

He was visibly emotional after Ruben Neves scored the decisive penalty, following Diogo Costa's save against Alvaro Morata's attempt from the spot.

On Saturday, Ronaldo mentioned that he would not participate in this month’s Club World Cup after declining offers from teams taking part in the tournament.

Fifa president Gianni Infantino had suggested the possibility of him joining a team in the tournament after Al-Nassr's lack of qualification.
