Wales hooker Lake called up to Six Nations squad

Wales hooker Dewi Lake has been selected for the Six Nations team following his recovery from a biceps injury.

Having missed the initial three losses of the tournament, his addition boosts Matt Sherratt's squad to 38 players ahead of their upcoming match against Scotland at Murrayfield on March 8 and the encounter with England a week later.

The 25-year-old previously led Wales during the summer tour of Australia in 2024 and the autumn internationals but has not participated in the Six Nations since 2022 due to his injury.

Lake now joins three other hookers: his Ospreys teammate Sam Parry, Elliot Dee, and Evan Lloyd.

Wales has released a trio from Ospreys—Dan Edwards, Parry, and Ben Warren—as well as two players from Scarlets—Joe Roberts and Taine Plumtree—and Cardiff scrum-half Ellis Bevan to enable them to compete for their regions in the United Rugby Championship (URC) this weekend.

Lake will not be eligible for the journey to face Glasgow on Saturday.

Sherratt's squad will also see 13 players returning to clubs in France and England this week: Racing 92 lock Will Rowlands, along with Gallagher Premiership players Max Llewellyn, Gareth Anscombe, Josh Hathaway, Freddie Thomas, Tomos Williams, Dafydd Jenkins, WillGriff John, Tommy Reffell, Nicky Smith, Christ Tshiunza, Jarrod Evans, and Nick Tompkins.
