England's head coach Thomas Tuchel has engaged in discussions with Arsenal's defender Ben White prior to selecting his inaugural squad next month.
Tuchel, who officially began his position on January 1, mentioned during the World Cup draw in December that he intended to "reach out" to White.
White departed from England's 2022 World Cup contingent in Qatar after the group stages, returning home due to personal matters.
Since then, he has not participated in any England squad after opting out of selection.
The 27-year-old has represented the Three Lions four times, with his last match appearance dated back to March 2022.
Tuchel has been observed attending several matches to scout players ahead of the World Cup qualifiers against Albania and Latvia at Wembley in March.
According to sources from BBC Sport, conversations have occurred, although there is no indication that this guarantees White's inclusion in the Three Lions squad.
White returned to play for Arsenal for the first time since November during the recent loss to West Ham, following knee surgery.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta stated that it is up to the England coach to determine whether White will make a return to international play.
"[He is] a player who has offered us something truly exceptional, particularly in that right unit," Arteta commented on White's contribution to his Arsenal side.
"It’s wonderful to have him back, providing more options, his energy, how he interacts within the team, the way he influences - he has certainly been missed."
