The German expressed disappointment regarding the performance as England struggled to secure a 1-0 victory against the underdogs Andorra in the World Cup qualifying match on Saturday.

Tuchel, a former Chelsea coach, pointed out that the players have been training in a noticeably different manner and advised the Three Lions to embrace a freer style of play, heed their directives, and "just go for it."

Since taking up the role of England head coach in January, Tuchel will oversee his fourth match in charge during the friendly against Senegal in Nottingham on Tuesday.

"I observe us training with joy, but our play is lacking that same joy," Tuchel remarked.

"We definitely need to enhance our game. We must work on our connections, our support, and our interactions as a team.

"I feel we are too individually focused on the field. There is still a lack of synergy.

"There are numerous positives to draw from our training, and I notice a lot of it during our sessions; it will take some time to bring that onto the pitch," he added.

Tuchel continued, "The priority should be to focus on the fundamentals of the game and communicate clear expectations to the players regarding their roles.

"Then they should set aside any concerns about the weight of the shirt. They can feel liberated in their positions, knowing they have teammates nearby to facilitate connections. And then just go for it."

Club World Cup provides Liverpool & Arsenal with a significant advantage

Following the match at Nottingham Forest’s City Ground on Tuesday, nine players from Tuchel's squad are slated to head to the United States for the Club World Cup.

Chelsea and Manchester City are the only clubs from the Premier League participating, and Tuchel remarked that the tournament's newly expanded format "will have a significant effect and will provide Liverpool and Arsenal a substantial edge for the next season by not being present."

"It should be a wonderful experience for those players participating in this [expanded] tournament for the first time, so I have mixed emotions about it," Tuchel shared.

"I chose not to dwell too much on it—after all, it is unavoidable, and no one can predict the outcome or its ramifications.

"We will address any consequences when they arise and see what unfolds."

The Club World Cup implies that many players will experience a shorter break between domestic seasons.

They may again participate in another expanded competition the following summer, with the 2026 World Cup being hosted in the US, Canada, and Mexico.

Tuchel commented, "There isn’t a single player [with England] who says, ‘I’d prefer to sit on the bench and conserve my energy for the Club World Cup.’ They are eager to compete.

"The matches are not the issue; it is the sheer amount of time they consume that affects the players, and they require adequate rest somewhere within this tight calendar, which is rarely provided."
