Lamine Yamal organized a gathering on Sunday at a rented venue located in Olivella, a quaint town situated 50 kilometers northwest of Barcelona. The guest list included YouTubers, influencers, and several members of the Barcelona football team.
It has been reported that Lamine Yamal engaged a group of entertainers with dwarfism, an act that the Association of People with Achondroplasia and other Skeletal Dysplasias in Spain (ADEE) has labeled as "unacceptable in the 21st century."
"In response, the ADEE has lodged a complaint, prompting this ministry to request the prosecutor's office conduct an investigation to determine whether any laws were breached, thereby infringing upon the rights of those with disabilities," Spain’s Ministry of Social Rights conveyed to the AFP news agency.
The ADEE stated, "We publicly condemn the act of employing individuals with dwarfism for entertainment purposes," and announced plans for legal action as it "perpetuates stereotypes, promotes discrimination, and diminishes the image and rights" of people with disabilities.
In a released statement, it noted: "Such actions not only contravene current laws but also violate the core ethical principles of a society striving for equality and respect."
"The general law governing the rights of individuals with disabilities explicitly forbids: 'Shows or entertainment activities where individuals with disabilities or other conditions are utilized to incite mockery, scorn, or derision from the audience in a manner that disrespects human dignity,'" it stated.
Nevertheless, Spanish radio station RAC1 aired an interview with someone who claimed to have been one of the entertainers at the party, supporting Lamine Yamal's actions.
"No one treated us with disrespect; we worked peacefully," said the artist, who preferred to remain unnamed.
"I can’t comprehend why there is such a fuss. We are just regular individuals, engaging in lawful activities.
"We perform as entertainers. What’s wrong with that? Is it because of our physical characteristics?
"We are aware of our boundaries and would never overstep them: we are not performing animals."
The performer mentioned that their act lasted for one hour and that they later joined the festivities.
"We dance, serve drinks, perform magic... there are various types of entertainment. Everybody had a wonderful time."
