Forward Lauren Hemp has made her return to the England national team for the first time since the Euro 2025 tournament after recovering from an injury, while Lauren James has not been selected.

The 25-year-old Hemp from Manchester City had been sidelined for two months due to an ankle injury but has recently participated in her team's wins over Everton and Manchester United.

On the other hand, 24-year-old James came back to play in Chelsea’s 6-0 victory against St Polten last week and appeared as a substitute in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday.

However, she has not yet started any games this season after an ankle injury sustained during the Euro 2025 final victory against Spain, which caused a four-month setback.

Lionesses head coach Sarina Wiegman has announced a squad of 25 players for upcoming friendly matches against China and Ghana, scheduled for 29 November and 2 December, respectively.

Anouk Denton, a defender from West Ham who has not yet appeared for England, returns to the squad following her inclusion last month, and Freya Godfrey, a forward from London City Lionesses, earns her first senior selection after showcasing strong performances in the Women’s Super League this season.

Midfielder Grace Clinton from Manchester City also rejoins the squad after missing the friendly victories against Australia and the defeat to Brazil in October due to a minor injury.

In addition, Jess Carter, a defender from Gotham FC, has been granted recovery time after the conclusion of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) play-offs, whereas Esme Morgan, a centre-back for Washington Spirit, is included despite having played in Saturday's 2-0 win over Portland Thorns.

Chelsea goalkeeper Hannah Hampton, who received the Yashin Trophy for best goalkeeper at the Ballon d'Or awards, will not participate due to a thigh injury.

The 24-year-old has been in the spotlight following criticism from former England teammate Mary Earps in her autobiography.

Euros standout Michelle Agyemang, aged 19, has not been selected after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during last month’s 3-0 victory over Australia.

Captain Leah Williamson, 28, and Manchester City’s Alex Greenwood, 32, are also unavailable due to knee injuries, and Arsenal's Katie Reid, 19, misses out with an ACL injury shortly after receiving her first senior call-up in October.
