Ward-Prowse, aged 31, transferred to the Hammers from Southampton in August 2023 and has since played 78 matches.
The England international was sent on loan to Nottingham Forest for the 2024-25 season, making 10 appearances under the management of Nuno Espirito Santo; however, this arrangement was terminated during the winter transfer period.
He consistently featured under previous West Ham manager Graham Potter, taking part in six matches this season before Potter's dismissal in September.
Since Nuno's arrival at West Ham, Ward-Prowse has not stepped onto the field for even a minute.
Burnley currently finds themselves in 19th place in the Premier League, sitting 10 points away from a safe zone after a 2-2 draw against Tottenham on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Hammers, who are in 18th place, hold a five-point lead over the Clarets.
Burnley's manager, Scott Parker, recently added 18-year-old defender Cameron Scott from Rangers, but he is also seeking to bring in seasoned talent like Ward-Prowse.
Ward-Prowse developed through the Southampton academy, where he made 410 appearances before moving to West Ham.
