The Magpies turned down a £110 million offer from Liverpool for Isak on August 1, with the Reds later stating that they were willing to abandon negotiations.

After a pre-season friendly loss to Atletico Madrid, Newcastle's coach Eddie Howe remarked that "everything is in play" regarding Isak's future but emphasized that it is "clear" he "cannot include" the forward in his current plans.

Consequently, Isak is likely to be absent from Newcastle's opening Premier League match against Aston Villa on Saturday at 12:30 PM BST.

The former Dortmund player did not participate in Newcastle's pre-season trip to the Far East due to a "minor" thigh injury.

He then trained solo at his previous club, Real Sociedad, before making his return to the UK last week.

Isak, who netted 27 goals in 42 matches in all competitions last season, has three years left on his contract in the northeast.

Newcastle has encountered several setbacks in their pursuit of strikers this summer, with Liam Delap choosing Chelsea, Benjamin Sesko opting for Manchester United, and Hugo Ekitike transferring to Liverpool.

There continues to be interest in Brentford's striker Yoane Wissa, who left the Bees' pre-season camp in Portugal in July seeking a move to Newcastle.

The 28-year-old resumed first-team training last week after productive discussions with head coach Keith Andrews.

However, the DR Congo striker remains eager to join Newcastle if an agreement on a fee can be reached.

Howe's team is also nearing a deal for AC Milan defender Malick Thiaw.

The center-back is expected to arrive in Tyneside on Sunday night to complete his £34.62 million transfer to St James' Park.
